Fit for Duty Testing

Dr. Bagley assists employers in developing post-offer screens to ensure an employee is capable of performing the minimum physical demands of a potential job, thus minimizing the risk of injury. The screening process must be ADA, ADAAA, and EEOC compliant. When properly designed and administered, pre-placement/post-offer screens may significantly reduce injuries, claims, and costs.

Steps for developing and implementing Post-Offer Screens:

1. Detailed Job Demands Analysis

The Essential functions and physical demands of the job(s) must be analyzed. This

includes: Determining weights, forces, tools, and overall physical demand.

2. Test Development:

This includes integration of all physical demands and replication of tools and

equipment. A sample of current workers performing the job are then taken

through the test to help refine the test, ensure job replication, and develop the

        final job screening tool.

3. Implementation:

After a conditional offer of employment is made, the pre-employment/post-offer

functional screen is performed. The test is administered by a qualified professional

to ensure accurate and safe testing. The candidate will perform each essential

function of the job to ensure he/she demonstrates the minimum essential physical

      capacity to perform the job.
